Saira Umar
Saira Umar is an Asian American writer who combines her multi-ethnic (Chinese, Burmese & Pakistani) background with her many interests. The stories she's drawn to have themes of identity, culture, family, and following dreams, set in a hopeful world.
She grew up reading as many books as she could fit in her arms each week at the library, then was introduced to musical theater performance. Saira then decided to combine her love of words and showmanship to pursue screenwriting. Since then, she's taken on side-quests including making magic at Disney World, teaching High School, and an art degree.
Currently, she's a PA at Titmouse on Amazon Prime's KEVIN and was previously on Comedy Central's Digman! and Netflix's Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld. She's written for PBS Kids and was a semi-finalist for the Disney TV Writing Program 2024 and Universal Animation Writing Program 2020.
