Every Tuesday in June, The Writers Guild Foundation and The Riveter will be hosting workshops featuring film and TV writers, producers, and entertainment executives that focus on all the elements of pitching, from crafting your personal story and shaping your film or TV pitch to working the room at a networking event or meeting.
Join us for a case study in implementing research into your next project with Craig Mazin, creator/writer/executive producer of the critically acclaimed HBO limited series Chernobyl. We’ll study how the creative team approached their research, how they parsed through collected data to identify key info to implement in the show, and how they managed the relationship between staying true to the facts and taking creative license.
Documentaries may deal with following real-life subjects and stories, but writing is still involved in the process. On this special evening, we sit down with a panel of documentary writers and filmmakers to learn how they structure their narratives, how they approach documentary scripts, and how the writing process informs the directing and editing processes.
