Malaika Jules is a writer and stand-up comedian from Inglewood, CA, known for her humorous takes on the everyday aspects of urban subcultures. Formerly a rapper, she performed in dive bars, college unions, and outdoor festivals. Her versatile writing spans poetry to screenplays, with her work featured in the public art installation Destination Crenshaw and commissioned pieces for the MTA and the City of Inglewood. A 2022 American Woman Playwriting Fellow, she was also a finalist in The Writer’s Room at the Geffen Playhouse. Her one-woman show, 90’s Hip Hop Raised Me, won the Producers Encore Award at the 2023 Fringe Festival. Currently, Malaika teaches writing workshops online and across Los Angeles, sharing her passion for storytelling.
