Diarra McCormick
Diarra McCormick is a screenwriter and playwright who began her work in theater at the tender age of eight, starring in the play, When the Rattlesnake Sounds. At 15 years old, she wrote and performed in the play, The 1811 Slave Revolt which was based on an original essay, "Toxic Town Territory." The essay highlighted her experience living on the Agriculture St. Landfill. McCormick is a prolific writer who always writes from experience and expresses her pain in a comedic and dramatic way, including her original tv pilot, Homebound, which is based on Hurricane Katrina. She features her whole family in her full length stage play called Black People Problems, which is an educational, historical comedy based on the notion that although slavery ended years ago, black people still suffer from mental enslavement today. McCormick is an AF veteran and has an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from LMU.
