Writers on Writing with Drew Goddard

From populous cities ravaged by monsters and zombies to a mysterious island and now Mars, screenwriter Drew Goddard has masterfully woven compelling stories amid dark, volatile, enigmatic environments. This month, his adaptation of Andy Weir’s e-book THE MARTIAN hits the big screen starring Matt Damon as an astronaut stuck on the red planet. Goddard also most recently served as executive producer on the first season of Marvel’s DAREDEVIL series on Netflix.

Goddard cut his teeth in the science fiction genre in the writers’ rooms of Joss Whedon (on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and ANGEL) and J.J. Abrams (on ALIAS and LOST). As he ventured into writing features, he reunited with Abrams, who produced his film debut CLOVERFIELD, and Whedon, who produced the horror flick THE CABIN IN THE WOODS. You can also add WORLD WAR Z to Goddard’s impressive credits.

He’ll be interviewed by friend of the Foundation and co-host of the Scriptnotes podcast, John August. His credits include GO, BIG FISH, FRANKENWEENIE, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY and a lot more!

In what’s sure to be an epically awesome conversation with John August, Goddard will expand on his process for writing within modern genres as well as across traditional and new platforms.

Doors open at 7pm. Event begins at 7:30pm.

All events advertised on our “Events” page are open to anyone who wants to buy a ticket – not just WGA members!
