Write-A-Thon: Raiders of the Lost Arc

6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Writers Guild Foundation Library, Los Angeles

Happy 2018, everyone! As with all new years, we are setting goals for new scripts and more pages written. To help kick start a productive year, we’re hosting our first Write-A-Thon of the year!

Expect the usual snacks, pizza, and more importantly, uninterrupted writing time with your fellow scribes and all the scripts you can access in our Library. Plus, we’ll also have a raffle with cool prizes.

If you’ve never been to one of our Write-A-Thons, it’s an evening when we keep the Library open after-hours. Whether you’re a night owl, a member of a writing group that meets on evenings, or just feel motivated when surrounded by other writers, we welcome anyone who wants to come work and write.

We’ll also welcome special guest speaker, Karen Kirkland, Nickelodeon’s Vice President, Talent Development and Outreach. Karen will give an overview of writing for Nickelodeon, the fellowship application process, and answer your questions from 6pm to 6:30pm.

The Write-A-Thon is sold out.

Tickets: $0.00

My First Episode: A Conversation with Jalysa Conway and Kevin McKidd

7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
WGF / WGA Headquarters – Del Reisman Multi-Purpose Room, Los Angeles

For a TV writer, there’s nothing more exciting than writing your first episode and seeing it air on television. Or, in the case of this special event, in front of a live audience of fellow writers.

Co-hosted by the United States Veterans’ Artists Alliance, Grey’s Anatomy staff writer and WGF Veterans Writing Project alumnus Jalysa Conway will screen her Season 14 episode and share her process for crafting it with one of the show’s stars and a central character in the episode, Kevin McKidd. With part of the episode set in 2007 Baghdad during the Iraq War, hear how Jalysa’s own military experience informed the story, and how McKidd brought the words to life.
