Screenplay by Eric Roth

Based on the novel by Winston Groom

  • Forrest Gump is one of the great voice-over movies/scripts of all time. The strength of the voice-over is in Forrest’s personal and innocent observations about the people around him (and their actions).

  • This moment where Lieutenant Dan floats out in the ocean after thanking Forrest for saving his life is made all the more poignant with Forrest telling us he thinks Lt. Dan “made his peace with God.”
