Rewriting Representation: Muslims, Media, and AI Bias

  • Writers Guild Foundation 7000 West 3rd Street Los Angeles, CA, 90048 United States (map)

The Writers Guild Foundation, in partnership with the Muslim Public Affairs Council Hollywood Bureau, hosts a panel on the risks of emerging technologies reinforcing biases in creative storytelling.

Artificial intelligence is transforming the creative landscape, but at what cost? As generative AI tools reshape how stories, images, and art are made, they risk reinforcing the very biases they inherit. For American Muslim storytellers, the challenge is clear: how do we harness AI without allowing it to replicate decades of stereotypes that may lead to erasure? This panel explores the intersection of technology, representation, and the future of creative equity.

Panelists include:

  • Sahar Jahani - Life & Beth, The Bold Type

  • Cindy Joung - Product Equity Expert, Aspen Digital

  • Yasemin Yilmaz - NCIS, Pantheon

…and more to be announced!

Moderated by Zaki Barzinji (Senior Director, Aspen Institute). Opening remarks by Sue Obeidi (Senior Vice President, MPAC Hollywood Bureau).

Doors open at 6:30PM. Panel starts at 7PM. A dinner reception immediately follows the panel.
