The Visionary: Writing, Directing and Changing the Game with Ava DuVernay

Ava DuVernay‘s passion for her craft knows no bounds. As a writer, director, and producer of features (A WRINKLE IN TIME, SELMA, MIDDLE OF NOWHERE), award-winning documentaries (13THTHIS IS THE LIFE) and critically acclaimed television (QUEEN SUGAR), DuVernay has become a creative force that has deftly carved her own path across platforms, genres, and industries.

On this special evening, the filmmaker and social justice advocate discusses with QUEEN SUGAR author Natalie Baszile her process for writing, developing, and directing her film and TV projects, how she approaches each season of hit OWN series QUEEN SUGAR, and what she has planned for ARRAY, her film collective that distributes the work of people of color and women directors.

Before seeing Ava, get caught up on QUEEN SUGAR, which returns with a two-night premiere on Tuesday, October 3rd and Wednesday, October 4th. QUEEN SUGAR airs on OWN each Wednesday at 10pm.

Doors open at 7:00pm. Event starts at 7:30pm.
