Wit and Grit: Writing Female Comedy Leads

From Lucy Ricardo, Mary Richards, and Maude Findlay to Liz Lemon, Leslie Knope, and Selina Meyer, television has seen its share of hilarious and iconic female comedic lead characters. They’ve not only stood out for their distinct points of view but also for their resilience through the many absurdities their worlds throw at them.

On this special evening, our panel of writers take a look at crafting and developing female lead characters for comedies and sitcoms; how they guide the audience through her complexities; and how they keep stories fresh and surprising through seasons.
