The use of CAPITALIZATION makes things feel more URGENT as they start to get STRANGER AND INTENSIFY DOWN THE PAGE.

Also, the use of italics in asking questions about the action, i.e. “Is he…?” is a great way to invite reader speculation about what’s happening, but it’s also playable by an actor.
