  • At first, it seems like the character we are learning about in this scene from The Half of It is Ellie. We learn from the teens yelling “Chugga-Chugga Chiu Chiu” that she is bullied, yes, but the character that we’re really learning about here is Paul.

  • Paul doesn’t join in with the bullies and he doesn’t do nothing. He stands up for Ellie and chases the taunting kids away. You can learn a lot about a character’s morals and empathy when they are placed in predicaments exactly like this one.
