Angelina and Rachel are not the main characters in Song Sung Blue. Rather, they are the main characters’ kids. In this scene, they’re talking to each other while Angelina’s dad and Rachel’s mom rehearse for their Neil Diamond tribute act.

This is a great example of how some of the most affective backstory and exposition is found in what OTHER characters say about a particular character… because they will reveal details that the character will not ordinarily divulge about themself.
