Jenji Kohan is the creator and executive producer of Weeds. She began her career on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air after graduating from Columbia University. Her series writing credits include First Time Out, Mad About You, Tracy Takes On, Sex and the City, Boston Common, Gilmore Girls, Will & Grace and Adventures in Television. She was the creator of the ABC pilot My Wonderful Life, creator and executive producer of the CBS television series The Stones and has written numerous other studio pilots. In 1999 she was honored with an Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series for her work on Tracy Takes On. In addition, Kohan won the Writers Guild Award for Best Episodic Comedy for the pilot of Weeds, “You Can’t Miss the Bear.” Kohan is the daughter of Buz Kohan (13-Emmy Award winning television writer) and Rhea Kohan, an accomplished novelist. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, journalist and author Christopher Noxon, and three children, Charlie, Eliza and Oscar.

Nancy Oliver has spent most of her life writing and directing brilliant but obscure original works for the theater. She joined the staff of Six Feet Under in 2002 for the last three seasons of the show. Stephen Gaghan is an Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning American film writer and director. His most acclaimed accomplishment is writing the screenplay for the film Traffic, for which he won an Academy Award.
In addition to Traffic, Gaghan has also directed and written the screenplays for Syriana (2005) and Abandon (2002). Other writing credits include Havoc (2005), The Alamo (2004) and Rules of Engagement (2000), as well as a handful of episodes of various television series.
In his television writing career, he won an Emmy Award for co-writing a NYPD Blue episode entitled “Where’s Swaldo,” in 1997. In addition to NYPD Blue, he has also written for The Practice and New York Undercover. His next project is a film adaptation of Malcolm Gladwell’s book “Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking.”

In 2007 Cody won wider fame as the writer of the hit film Juno (directed by Jason Reitman) for which she won the WGA Award, the BAFTA and the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 2008.
During the filming and promotion of Juno, Cody wrote a horror-drama screenplay about a teenage cannibal called Jennifer’s Body. Jennifer’s Body was filmed from 2007 to 2008 and is set for a late 2009 release.

James Duff - Anatomy of a Script 3 (two-disc set)

James Duff is the Executive Producer of The Closer, which he also created. He began his professional writing career with the Broadway drama Home Front, which was later retitled The War at Home before having a successful worldwide run in London, Stockholm, Athens, Tel Aviv, Johannesburg, Brussels, Amsterdam and Sydney. The play was then made into a feature film starring Kathy Bates, Martin Sheen, Emilio Estevez, Kimberly Williams and Carla Gugino. Duff’s play, A Quarrel of Sparrows, went from regional theater productions to off-Broadway’s Promenade Theatre and won a Dramalogue Award during its run in Los Angeles.

Duff has written three television films, and also created and produced the series The D.A. with Greer Shephard and Michael M. Robin. He has written an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, as well as four pilots.
