CRAFT YOUR FUTURE: Surviving and Thriving as a Screenwriter

Date: Jun 29, 2013

This year, we’re going all out for our Screenwriting Craft Symposium, with an entire day’s worth of panels full of exciting guests:

SCRIPTNOTES: THE STAGE SPECTACULAR. John August and Craig Mazin will record an episode of their SCRIPTNOTES podcast at the event — and take questions from all of you! They’ll also have an on-stage version of their Three Page Challenge.

WHY I WROTE IT. The writers of some of this summer’s hottest movies – and a few great flicks yet to come – talk about their writing process: The choices they make, the characters they create, and the stories they develop. Including Travis Beacham (PACIFIC RIM), Evan Daugherty (the upcoming KILLING SEASON), Karl Gajdusek (OBLIVION), Marti Noxon (FRIGHT NIGHT, the upcoming TOMB RAIDER reboot) and Edward Ricourt (NOW YOU SEE ME)

WHY WE CHOSE IT. Reps from the Austin Film Fest (Screenplay & Teleplay Competition Director Matt Dy), The Black List (founder Franklin Leonard), the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting (Director Greg Beal) will join BEVERLY HILLS COP scribe Dan Petrie, Jr. to discuss what it takes to keep readers turning pages.

WHY WE BOUGHT IT. A team of expert producers and execs talk about what’s hot in sales now, and what might be hot in the near future. Panelists include Jeb Brody (President of Production, Focus Features), Lia Buman (Executive VP, Production & Acquisitions, FilmDistrict), Bill Horberg (producer, MILKCOLD MOUNTAIN) and Tony Safford (Executive VP, Acquisitions, 20th Century Fox)
